I was inspired to reach out to the community initially by Nancy Mills at Trinity University and then by Petra van Koppen at UCSB. Both of these experiences further confirmed my passion for teaching and mentorship. I plan to start an Outreach program at Mission College, guiding undergraduate students to reach out to the community. These types of experiences not only benefit the community but will have ever-lasting memories for the students of Mission College!
Currently, I am advising a science group at Mission College, AMES2 (Alliance for Math, Engineering and Science Students). This wonderful group of students are interested learning about cutting-edge research that is being done in the fields of physics, engineering, chemistry and biology. The goal of this club is to get students connected to professionals in the Bay area by organizing tours of companies, inviting speakers to Mission, and setting up internships.
